ROK Finance serves as your financial advocate in the process of marital dissolution.  Whether you choose mediation, collaborative divorce, or litigated divorce, the objective is to emerge with an optimal financial settlement that serves as the foundation for a secure and prosperous future.  Working in conjunction with your attorney or mediator, we help you navigate the financial aspect of divorce during all stages of the process, from pre-divorce strategy through post-judgment execution and support.

For many clients, the process begins with an evaluation of the current financial situation, which includes a comprehensive review of all financial data including tax returns, sources of current and future income, assets and liabilities in the marital estate, spending patterns and expenses of both parties, current and expected financial support for children.  We equip you with the information you need to make decisions that optimize the short and long term well-being of you and your family.

We provide checklists, worksheets and timelines to help our clients track, anticipate, and complete tasks required by your attorney, the courts, accountants, and other interested parties.

Specifically we address and provide:

  • Pre-divorce strategy

  • Identifying, locating and organizing key financial data

  • Comprehensive review of financial documents such as tax returns, investment account statements, benefits and compensation packages

  • Lifestyle analysis

  • Financial affidavit and other document preparation

Business Meeting

One of the key benefits we bring to the process is setting and managing clients’ expectations about the realities of their priorities and desired outcomes.  We provide an analysis of the client’s pre-divorce financial landscape, including all sources of income (current and deferred), assets, and liabilities.  We work with clients to evaluate the options for the division of assets, alimony and child support payments, and longevity of settlement scenarios.  Included in our settlement analyses are tax implications, cash flow projections, and options for protecting assets and cash flow post judgment such as the use of QDROs and insurance policies.

We offer post judgment support to ensure the required transactions are completed in a timely manner, such as transferring of accounts, titles, deeds, and liabilities.  We facilitate real estate sales and refinancings, beneficiary changes, QDRO executions.  For areas outside our purview, we refer our clients to professionals within our network, such as realtors, mortgage brokers, real estate appraisers, financial planners, investment advisors, CPAs and tax preparers.

  • Prepare clients for meetings with your legal team

  • Prepare list of documents needed during the discovery process

  • Help clients Identify, locate, and understand key financial documents

  • Present current financial situation- income, assets, liabilities, deferred income

  • Tax returns analysis

  • Forensic accounting for tracing assets and income

  • Prepare the financial affidavit and review opposing side’s FA and other statements

  • Prepare and evaluate settlement options- amounts, structure, timing, tax implications of alternatives- including cash flow projections

  • Provide expert reports, ad hoc reports and analysis as needed for trial support

  • Track post judgment execution of settlement such as mortgage refinancing, QDRO completion, other asset transfers as warranted
